BIO

Born and raised in New York City, Kara Lu started writing music at age 16, but didn't officially take the name of Father Koi until the indie-pop release of "Halloween Dancer" in 2019. Since then, she has ventured into experimenting with different sounds, working with different producers as well as producing herself to create a variety of different genres, but never deviating from her trademark honest and stripped-down lyrics.

Classically trained in piano since age 6, Kara picked up the guitar and bass in 2016 and later started singing in 2019 with Father Koi's start. Since then, her work has been featured in five Spotify official playlists.

Stay tuned for more Father Koi soon.
